Why HartDixon?
Sustainability is at the forefront of future construction projects. Whilst BREEAM, LEED and other organisations focus on new construction, HartDixon recognises the need for measuring sustainability for commercial refurbishment projects which make a up a huge proportion of construction work. Our sustainably minded building surveyors are able to apply their building and project management knowledge to this service presenting a unique synergy between skillsets. A commercially minded building surveyor will be able to advise on design, cost and programme when factoring SKA criteria into a project. As such, HartDixon are able to provide extra added value regarding sustainability in refurbishment projects.
HartDixon require engagement at the earliest stage possible for a successful service, the SKA assessment process is broken into three stages:
- Design/planning; measures and issues are identified, works are adapted with designers to meet the requirements of the desired certification (bronze, silver, gold).
- Handover; assembling evidence from Operations and Maintenance (O&M) manuals and other sources to show what was planned has been delivered.
- Occupancy; review the performance of the fit out whilst in use against its original brief from a year after completion.
