Sunny-Thomas Obasuyi Joins HartDixon as Senior Surveyor

In a significant move that highlights both his expertise and industry recognition, Sunny has joined HartDixon as a Senior Surveyor in September 2023. With an impressive career that includes stints at BNP Paribas Real Estate and L&Q Housing Association, Sunny brings a wealth of knowledge and experience to his new role.
Sunny’s journey to becoming a Senior Surveyor began with a strong educational foundation, achieving a BSc (Hons) degree in Building Surveying from Nottingham Trent. His commitment to professional growth was further demonstrated when he achieved Chartered Surveyor status in 2021.
With over eight years of hands-on experience, Sunny possesses a deep understanding of both the residential and commercial sectors, making him a valuable addition to the HartDixon team. His diverse background has allowed him to excel in various roles, from project management to risk and stakeholder management.
As a client-side Project Manager for Registered Providers, Sunny has overseen the procurement of affordable housing stock and managed large-scale estate regeneration projects with budgets ranging from £10-30 million. In the commercial sector, he has specialised in construction delivery for fit-outs and refurbishments, handling projects with a cumulative value of over £80 million. His roles have encompassed Employer Agent, Contract Administration for CAT B refurbishments, and Project Development Monitoring.
Sunny’s commitment to the industry extends beyond his professional roles. In April 2023, he achieved a significant milestone by being elected to the Young Member seat on the RICS Governing Council. This prestigious position places him at the forefront of the industry’s decision-making, including the RICS presidential team and global member representatives.
Sunny’s exceptional contributions to the industry have not gone unnoticed. He has been nominated for several prestigious awards, including the EG Rising Star in 2023, a nomination for Neurodivergent Achiever of the Year 2023, and recognition in the RICS Matrics Surveyor Awards 2023 as a nominee for Ambassador of the Year.
Sunny’s arrival at HartDixon is expected to further enhance the firm’s reputation and capabilities, and his continued commitment to industry advocacy is set to inspire and empower future generations of surveyors.
Outside of his demanding professional commitments, Sunny is a passionate advocate for inclusivity and youth empowerment. He serves as a STEM and RICS Inspire Ambassador, working to inspire and mentor the next generation of professionals. In his leisure time, Sunny is an avid podcast enthusiast, a dedicated touch rugby player at a social level, and a fan of video editing. His love for exploration takes him to new locales, and he passionately supports Arsenal football club.
