WELL Building Standard

The WELL Building Standard (v1 and v2) is an International WELL Building Institute (IWBI) assessment method and standard for commercial projects. It provides an assessment against a set of Concepts factoring in health and wellbeing. There are 7 Concepts; Air, Water, Nourishment, Light, Fitness, Comfort, and Mind with over 100 criteria (or Features), some of which are necessary for certification and others are optimisations for an improved rating.

Why HartDixon?

Health and wellbeing are important for employers and employees in working environments. HartDixon recognises the need for improving standards of the workplace and our trained building surveyors are able to apply their construction and project management knowledge to this service presenting a unique synergy between skillsets. A commercially minded building surveyor will be able to advise on design, cost and programme when factoring WELL Concepts into a project.

The majority of WELL Features intend to improve health, positively change behaviour, and provide access to information and support for making lifestyle choices. WELL applies new and existing buildings, new and existing interiors and core and shell building types. If a project complies with the WELL Building Standards, a certificate is issued by the IWBI granting Silver, Gold or Platinum status, which requires re-certification and monitoring over time.

Our trained surveyors (who are also RICS accredited Building Surveyors) are able to offer initial WELL advice at the early stages of a project and assist in the procurement of a WELL AP to take matters forward.
